Kinesiology & The Healing Crisis
As Dr Ginger Chalford, PhD, emphasises in: [1]“Understanding the Healing Crisis”, once the body has begun to heal itself, it must go through an elimination process in order to return to homeostasis, or normal functioning. This is referred to as the healing crisis. In a healing crisis, every system in the body works together to eliminate waste and set the stage for regeneration.
The first point of interest here is that symptoms of the healing crisis may be at first identical to the disease it was meant to heal. Dr Chalford states: “but there is an important difference - elimination. A cleansing, purifying process is underway and stored wastes are in a free-flowing state.” The body, mind, and spirit are no longer locked.
As naturopathic physician Dr. Bruce [2]Fife points out, it is called a ‘healing’ crisis because the body is healing itself. It is referred to as a ‘crisis’ because the symptoms can be dramatic and rather unpleasant. “Because the healing crisis is accompanied by unpleasant symptoms it is often mistaken as a sickness,” he says. In reality, it is just the opposite. It is a process in which the body is becoming healthy.

Here is a great article about the healing crisis also known as the Herxheimer Reaction. It discusses all aspects of the healing crisis and clearly defines what it is.
